Thіs afternoon session will bring together prominent figures from science and technology, leaders from business and industry, and philanthropists supporting fundamental sciences. The session will focus on the role of modern mathematics as a foundation for technology, innovation, and economic growth.
The programme will combine two lectures by renowned scientists, a brief overview of ICMU’s work, and a panel discussion on the interaction between mathematics, technology, and society. Modern technological breakthroughs arise not only from programming or hardware, but above all from new mathematical models, methods of analysis, and optimisation techniques. The participants in the discussion will share their views on what kinds of mathematics society needs today and what to expect in the future.
The session will take place simultaneously at the International Centre for Mathematics in Ukraine (ICMU) in Kyiv and at the Centre for Quantum Mathematics at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, with a live connection between the two locations. This event is part of the conference “Mathematics for the Real World”, organised jointly by ICMU and the Centre for Quantum Mathematics.
We welcome everyone interested in the role of mathematics in strengthening Ukraine’s innovation ecosystem.
