ICMU is seeking translators of mathematical literature

ICMU is launching the translation of mathematical literature into Ukrainian. We invite Ukrainian students and researchers to take part in this initiative!

Our first project is the translation of a new book by Borys Kadets and Daniel Keliher "From Circles to Cubics: A View of Elementary Algebraic Geometry". The book is aimed at a wide audience, including interested high schoolers and teachers. It is written in English. In early 2024, Boris Kadets announced his work on this book by delivering at ICMU a lecture series entitled "Algebraic Geometry of Circles and Triangles". Ukrainian undergraduates and doctoral students interested in learning algebraic geometry and proficient in working with LaTeX may become translators of this book.

The second project is the translation from English of "An Invitation to Discrete Mathematics" by Jiří Matoušek and Jaroslav Nešetřil. Like the first project, this book contains numerous illustrations and exercises. It will be of use to a broad audience interested in mathematics and its applications in computer science. The translation will be carried out under an agreement between ICMU and Oxford University Press.

Applications to participate in these projects may be submitted until the 15th of October and 7th of November, respectively. To apply, please fill in the relevant form on the Book Translation @ICMU programme page. You will need to upload your curriculum vitae and a sample translation of proposed extracts from the book. ICMU will provide payment for the translators’ work.
